This book is so, deeply, incredibly high school. Suddenly their rivalry is starting to feel like an actual rom-com. The movie is doomed before they even start shooting… until a real-life plot twist unfolds behind the camera when Emma and Sophia start seeing each other through a different lens. Forget starry-eyed romance, Sophia knows what will win: an artistic film with a message.Ĭue the drama. She’s big into boycotts, namely 1) relationships, 2) teen boys and their BO (reason #2347683 she’s a lesbian), and 3) Emma’s nauseating ideas. She loves a meet-cute Netflix movie, her pet, Lady Catulet, and dreaming up the Gay Rom Com of her heart for the film festival competition she and her friends are entering. It took a few chapters to get invested, but once I was, I Think I love You‘s opposites-attract narrative was heart-winning.Įmma is a die-hard romantic. Stories including the Harvey Weinstein sexual allegations (during which McCraw reviewed early article drafts) are recounted vividly, and McCraw includes correspondence with opposing legal teams, as well as his fielding of questions from reporters, once via phone from the stands of Yankee Stadium. Much of the book involves the 2016 election, including the paper’s publication of a portion of Trump’s 1995 tax return (a move that McCraw reassured reporters would have no legal consequence), but also features lighter anecdotes, such as a libel suit from Beatles acquaintance “Magic Alex” about his portrayal as a “charlatan” in an obituary for Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Best known for a letter he wrote responding to a lawsuit threat from President Trump about a report detailing groping accusations against him from two women, McCraw colors his legalese with wit and levity. McCraw, the deputy general counsel of the New York Times, recounts 17 years of defending the First Amendment and the paper’s legal integrity in this passionate memoir. Recommended for a wide range of ages because of the humor: ages 6-10. This goes in my top ten picture books of the year. Highly, highly recommended for boys, girls, parents and grandparents. Not relegated to the background, these grandparents are unique individuals who simply allow the boys to have the week they want to have rather than pushing them to do more constructive things. The tone is exactly right, the characterizations are spot on, and there is a joyous skip to the entire book.Īdditionally, the grandparents are a welcome pair in children’s books. But what makes this book so stellar is that it perfectly captures modern boys, video games, and friendship. Often the text says one thing while the pictures tell the truth of the situation, which is great fun. Frazee has a great sense of humor that children will immediately appreciate. It isn’t until their final night there that they spend some time outside and discover that it is the best part of their week. They play video games, each lots of banana waffles, and spend most of their time indoors even though the beach is right at their doorstep. The book follows the boys not as they go to camp, but as they return to the house each evening. James and Eamon head to Eamon’s grandparents house at the beach to go to nature camp nearby during the day. A Couple of Boys Have the Best Week Ever by Marla Frazee. But, it was Kitty on the other side who could take in some help there. ‘The Midnight Hour’ accidentally got started by her which was a late-night show with the agenda of advising the supernaturally disadvantaged creature.Īfter the desperate werewolves, vampires, and witches across the country started to call in to share their anguishes, her new show became a huge success. She was quite sick and tired of the different lame song requests. Moreover, she was a werewolf as well in the closet. Kitty was a midnight-shift DJ who was working for a radio station in Denver. The narrator did an excellent job and made this novel such a fantastic experience for the listeners. Marguerite Gavin is the narrator of this novel. Kitty Goes to Washington is one of her finest novels and so is her Kitty and the Silver Bullet. The author so far has published more than 60 short stories in the science fiction and fantasy category. She is an American author of urban fantasy and science fiction novels mainly. The book is a work of fiction and it is written by Carrie Vaughn. In 1982 he went independent and became a freelance artist, finding success as an illustrator for numerous authors, and worked on many best selling novels such as The Guin Saga and Vampire Hunter D. Anything else I should take a look at I love concept art. Im interested in picking up additional FF artwork (aside from the typical cut scene posters and whatnot). Amano later became the creator of iconic and influential characters such as Gatchaman, Tekkaman:The Space Knight, Hutch the Honeybee, and Casshan. Yoshitaka Amano 'The Sky' - what else Hi all I just picked up Yoshitaka Amanos 'The Sky' - needless to say its a beautiful compilation of FF artwork. He first came into prominence in the late 1960s working on the anime adaptation of Speed Racer. Each hardcover book in The Sky Slipcased Edition is 11 5/8 high by 10 5/8 wide, and printed on glossy stock. Yoshitaka Amano is a Japanese artist, character designer, illustrator and a theatre and film scenic designer and costume designer. The connection, from a writerly standpoint, is deeper than that-their work, nearly all of it, is set in “their” state. What makes authors like these inextricably associated with a particular state is not simply the matter of their having been born there or choosing to live there. And what reader can think of Washington State without contending with the sparkle-vampire yarns of Stephanie Meyer? Illinois can lay claim to William Maxwell, Sandra Cisneros, and Adam Langer, among numerous others. Rural Pennsylvania is the playground of the much-heralded (and occasionally maligned) John Updike, and when many bibliophiles think of New Jersey, they also think of Richard Ford’s series of novels featuring recurring Everyman character Frank Bascombe. The state of Maine is gifted with Pulitzer winner Richard Russo and horror icon Stephen King. Mississippi has William Faulkner and his incomparable (fictional) Yoknapatawpha County and Missouri can lay claim to Mark Twain. To date, viewers left wanting content even more explicit than TV-MA have had the option of Game of Bones (, 2013), This Ain’t No Game of Thrones XXX (Hustler, 2014), and Gay of Thrones (Men.com, 2014). Since it’s 2011 debut, the show has already engendered at least three capital-A Adult knockoffs, an output befitting the HBO show’s heady mix of fantasy, politics, violence, and copious sex. But perhaps no mainstream franchise is more ripe for the XXX treatment than Game of Thrones, currently king atop the appointment-viewing heap. Ninja Turtles and Simpsons, Sponge Bob, Star Wars: if it’s an even modestly successful bit of intellectual property, you can bet the adult-film industry has re-interpreted it to the fullest extent fair-use law will allow. Critical praise, ratings, and award statues are great, but in the 21st century, no film or TV show has truly succeeded until it has a porn parody.
